Ellison Berns, M.D.
Ellison Berns, MD, FACC graduated from Georgetown University of School of Medicine in 1979. He completed three years of training in Internal Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital and is board certified. Dr. Berns is board certified in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology, having completed training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. Dr. Berns joined the faculty at the University of Connecticut in 1988. He developed the electrophysiology programs at St Francis and New Britain General Hospitals. He also developed the first interventional and ablation electrophysiology programs in Connecticut at St. Francis Hospital. He developed the interventional electrophysiology programs at Hartford Hospital and Connecticut Children's Medical Center. He remains active in the teaching and research programs at St. Francis Hospital and the University of Connecticut.
Neal Lippman, M.D.
Neal Lippman, MD, FACC graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and received his medical degree in 1986 from the Cornell University Medical College. He completed training in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Cardiac Electrophysiology at The New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Center in New York City, and was on faculty at Cornell as an electrophysiologist at The New York Hospital before joining the faculty of the University of Connecticut Health Center in 1993. Dr. Lippman is board certified in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology. He has conducted research on testing techniques to evaluate syncope and ventricular tachycardia. Dr. Lippman served as Director of Cardiac Pacing for the University of Connecticut Health Center, and has advised area hospitals on quality control for its pacemaker programs. He assisted in the development of the electrophysiology programs in the Greater Hartford Area.
Joseph Dell'Orfano, M.D.
Joseph Dell'Orfano, MD, FACC graduated from Fairfield University and received his medical degree in 1991 from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed training in Internal Medicine at the University of Connecticut and was Chief Medical Resident at St. Francis Hospital. He was a fellow in Cardiology at the University of Texas in Houston and completed his Cardiology at the Pennsylvania State University, where he also completed his training in Cardiac Electrophysiology. He joined the faculty of the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1999 before joining Arrhythmia Consultants of Connecticut in September, 2001. Dr. Dell’Orfano is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology. His interests include resynchronization therapy. He has participated in trials of biventricular pacing and implantable defibrillator therapy. He has conducted research and published scientific papers on atrial fibrillation, fetal pacing and cellular repair of the cardiac conduction system.
